here is my el cheapo version of a grabber. I bought a cheap paint roller arm and shaped it around an insulator. I covered it with something grippy(old bike inner tube rubber and electric tape. I reach it over the insulator and as I use a ratcheting motion to the left it clinches and turns the insulator. I can also let it hang when my arms get tired from reaching up with a 24ft plus pole. After it's free of the threads I usually nudge the insulator from underneath and jump back as it falls to the ground. I've been lucky that the ground has been mud or grass.
