I know this was tough. The photo wasn't all that great. The characters were all pretty well known here in the east but that was quite a few years ago. Very few guesses but at least there was some attempt. Anyway, with his back to the camera is Tony Longtin. Tony was from the Plattsburg, NY area and had an outstanding collection of both glass and porcelain. Tony passed away in the prime of his life, from an infection that ravaged his organs. In the striped sweater is another early collector and a real gentleman, Pete Samiec. Pete was from the Amsterdam, NY area. I met Pete at the Lee, Mass. bottle show in the very early 1970's and we still remain friends although Pete's interests have drifted away from insulators. The handsome lad in the bright white sneakers is me, Doug MacGillvary. Still messing around with insulators because I know most of the CD numbers and it would be a shame not to use that wealth of knowledge. The gentleman with the glasses is one of the most famous collectors to come out of New England, Dick "Dinky" Gay. Everybody that met Dick had an opinion about him, but he was a heck of a guy and he had a "killer" collection. If you every get a chance to find the Ray Klingensmith catalog with the Dick Gay collection you will be blown away! He was a hell of a piano player too! Played professionally under the name of Richard Gordon.
