Here's the first of series of photo's from the Hemingray plant in Muncie, IN. This first picture is of the office building built in 1927. The stone sign is nicely engraved out of Indiana limestone.

This picture was taken from the Southeast side of the plant looking westward along one of the spur lines serving the plant. The building closest to the photographer is 'B' Furnace.

Here's Darrin Cochran digging one of his "craters" out back. Darrin got some nice solid pours and a few spools and fruit jar lids.

Here's a crater that we are all responsible for. Moving the large furnace blocks is quite a challenge but sometimes it's worth the effort.

This is a typical dump hole that sometimes yields good stuff, and sometimes yields nothing.... This is an early ca. 1997 photo. All of the bare dirt is now weeds making the excavation tougher. Roger Lucas is in the photo.

This is what we call "Cobalt Corner". While digging I asked a backhoe operator to scoop up this area with a couple bucket sweeps. Out came about 250 cobalt signals and large cobalt glass chunks. Most are crackled or badly chipped. This is an early ca. 1997 photo.

Here is Roger Lucas once again grabbing a large cobalt blue glass chunk to take home with him. This is in the "Cobalt Corner" area of the dump. This is an early ca. 1997 photo.

Darin Cochran digging a good sized hole as he always does. Globe Fruit jar lids, solid pour insulators, and various other things were found here.

This hole is one of my favorites. It yielded shards of CD 176.9 & CD 100.6 as you can see on top of the newspapers.

Here is Roger Lucas "praying" for some good finds. Actually he is just carefully raking through the soil so that he doesn't miss anything. The CD 176.9 & CD 100.6 shards are in the foreground.

This is an unusual dump hole that I started to dig that uncovered this brick arch. We cleaned it away and were able to get inside what was the air chambers of the large glass furnaces.

This is an unusual dump hole that I started to dig that uncovered this brick wall. It was decided by the group of us that we should break thru and see what was on the other side. The other side was covered with concrete driveways and slabs, so we would be under that by breaking through. Darin Cochran is going through it head first with a flashlight. He crawled around for several feet finding nothing but sand.

Here is Darin coming back out of the hole. Can't say that I have seen an image like this very often.
