| This answers an e-mail question regarding the comparison between the CD 731 and CD 731.3 threadless styles. The insulator on the left is a CD 731 in deep olive amber black glass which was found in PA. The insulator on the right is a CD 731.3 which was found on a railway telegraph line which ran between South Carolina into Georgia. The difference between the two can easily be seen when they are sitting side by side. |

| The CD 731 Tillotson in light powder blue aqua which was found in Georgia. This is a better picture than the one which were shown in an
earlier post. The picture shows some of the character of this insulator. In this picture, you will immediately notice interesting acid etch
marks which circle the dome. I suspect these must have been in the mould for this insulator. Has anyone else ever seen this type of etching
on the surface of an insulator. The reverse side of this Tillotson has a nice string of amber and white milk. |

| The CD 731 was a common threadless insulator found in Georgia. This is a better picture shows a size comparison between two CD 731's
with no embossing versus the CD 731 Tillotson also found on the Central of Georgia Railway telegraph line. The size and shape compare
favorably for all three. This leaves me wondering if Tillotson might have made these CD 731's or maybe someone purchased their moulds
when they went out of business. |
