HEMINGRAY (part 2) - Bob Stahr, St. John, Indiana

Fruit Jars: "Examples date from the early 1860's through 1905. The famous GLOBE fruit jar was introduced in the 1880's."

Lamps: "Produced from the 1850's through the turn-of-the-century. Examples were likely produced in the 1880's and 1890's."

Kerosene Cans: "Two examples of these are present in the display. The can consists of a glass bottle surrounded by a tin jacket. These were produced in great numbers during the 1880's."

Bird Dishes: "On February 1, 1876, Julius Proeger assigned his design patent rights to Hemingray for a glass dish shaped like a bird. The actual specimens vary slightly in design from the patent."

Tobacco Jars: "Shards of GLOBE tobacco jars were dug at both Covington and Muncie factories of Hemingray. They were likely produced in the 1880's and 1890's."
