Not Destined to be a Collector, Unfortunately.

This'd be the newest addition to the population of the Nicpon residence. We're considering having a custom town nameplate made for our own population count. This is a currently nameless silkie chicken hatchling. Silkies appear the same as regular chickens aside from being much, much smaller, & aptly named because of their silky, almost fur-like feathers. We think this one's a male, but there's just no way to tell at this stage. Still pretty ugly, but believe me, these guys look as majestic as any really majestic mythical watchamawhosit you might ever have been intimidated by. Not only that, but the Silkies seem to be the only ones not "shooting blanks" in our henhouse. The regular Barde Rock & Rhode Island Reds seem to want to put up a fight in terms of successfully reproducing. I'll try and avoid getting into that, though. Just to clear this up right now, since I know someone's wondering it... Nope, we don't kill or eat our chickens. We have a "retirement home" so to speak. All our chickens live out the full length of their lives, and then are put to proper burials. Just like Mike & Debbie, I'm looking for creative names for this little guy! Please feel free to email me with any suggestions. I'll undoubtedly post a photo when he (or she) is full grown!
