Here's an early Canadian-made version of the CD 145 style that doesn't pop up for sale all that often. This is what's listed in the price guide as the "Brookfield style" unembossed Canadian CD 145, with MLOD and four small drips on the inner skirt. This one is the typical crisp light aqua colour, with some minor milky wisps and a nice "tornado" of carbon at the top of the pinhole to give it some added character. Many Canadian collectors believe these to have been an 1890s Hamilton Glass Works product, as their age, the inner skirt "teats", and glass colour and quality are all reminiscent of some Hamilton Glass Works products. At this time we just don't know who made them, but they're certainly Canadian and turn up in various parts of eastern Canada, including Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes.

This example is in fair condition, with a 0.8 cm base flake on one side, and a 0.6 cm very small inner skirt flake and a 1 cm tall by 0.7 cm wide very flat flake on the lower skirt on the other side. The damage sounds worse than it is, and this piece displays quite well.

I'm now asking $35 USD plus shipping for this example. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I have a long-standing want list of Canadian-made porcelain posted, [id=505519866; please click here to see it]. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items.
