With temps hovering at or below zero the last few days, it's left me trying to keep myself busy with indoor activities. So, after dusting off all the insulators and video documenting them, I decided to make another small display case with a little of the materials accumulated over the last year. The wood (solid birch), back panel (cabinet facing), shelf brackets, glass shelves and plexiglass liner panel came from our local ReStore and cost approx. $28.00. The only thing that I had to purchase from Home Depot was the lighting ($40.00). It holds about 40 ponies or 35 tolls. I always feel good using repurposed materials whenever possible. I already have more display cases than I have room for, so I'm sure this one will end up going to a fellow collector at an upcoming local show for a killer price. It's still cold around here, so maybe I'll build my 1st display case just for porcelain pieces. :-}
