In the late 1800's and even into the early 1900's, the employment of children in the glass factories was a common practice. Photographer Lewis Hines documented the working conditions for these children. A written account can be found in Dreams of Glass, where William McLaughlin talks about working in the glass factory for Bob Good in Valverde, CO as a young boy.
