Hi all, was out kicking the dirt beside a cut pole stump beside the railroad track today and came up with this artifact, but it was only a couple inches deep. The railroad has been there since the 1850s and the stratus indicates (after I dug tonight) that the sand fill base starts at approximately 20-24" down. I found pieces of identical objects but all broken. It is definitely porcelain and just a bit larger than a quarter in diameter. Hopefully more digging will reveal some insulators, but no luck yet. Have found rusted hardware all the way down to the sand base, so I'm hopeful.
Please clue me in to what thing is, thanks!
