Old fire alarm circuit, 7th & Ormsby Ave., Louisville, Ky. An example of an insulator still in the air, but not actually in service. The old copper lines were replaced by a radio alarm system about 1979 and the number of call boxes was greatly reduced, partly to cut down on false alarms. The old system goes back to the time before telephones were common.
