Of the thousands of Hemingray-42's I've seen in the wild, this is the first one ever found without the 42. Jim Berg found this this past summer laying on the ground along my favorite picking line along the old Pennsy mainline just outside Fort Wayne, IN. I guess I need to pay more attention to the embossing for errors, like Jim does all the time.
