US 34 between Estes Park and Loveland parallels this mountain stream most of the way down the canyon. Twice within the last half-century, this river turned into a raging torrent after a storm stalled out over the Front Range - the first in July 1976 and again in September 2013 (and infrastructure repairs are still in progress after the 2013 floods).
