This is one of the 1000 surplus Locke #307 insulators resold around 1909 from the dismantling of the abandoned Phoenix Light and Fuel line . The line was rendered obsolete by construction of the Roosevelt dam in Az. I recovered this piece in "stelth mode" because of property ownership issues but feel fairly confident we will be able to recover more after one of my hunting buddies gets things clear with some local property owners . I found pieces of several more but needed to do some obvious digging and brush trimming to recover them complete which would not be stelthy . I am not sure how many we will ultimately find but it seems like a half dozen or more is not unrealistic given the topography of area where we will hopefully be hunting again ! This unit has marking 6-2 and a date of July 31st 1901 on the other side . [id=495036458] to see the historic document.
