For sale M-2840 (New Lexington):

This classic large long skirted lilyshell piece came from the Ventura- Castaic California 33k V line that was constructed around 1907. Only a few of these are known, most having surfaced at flee markets in Southern California . This is quite a large insulator, it's top being about 11" wide. This specimen has a very hard to notice radial cement expansion fracture that extends from the skirt edge to the crown which if you look very closely runs down the length of the conductor groove. . It appears the top was cracked wile the insulator was in service. the crack is tight and the top rings like it is not broken. There are two tiny micro flakes on the edge of the drown The insulator is otherwise mint with no repairs or chips and is in the condition it was in when removed from service . I have always likes these really tall slender skirted lilyshells and have another one like this in my own collection.
