Here is a view inside one of the full crates. Its all railroad line salvage from the California Central Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains. These are photos taken by the seller; I haven't been out to the site yet. Speaking to a couple of collectors who have actually searched through a different field crate that was full, it takes two collectors the better part of a day to search through an entire crate. Those collectors found just three insulators worth keeping. Each field crate is equivalent to four 55-gallon barrels. In an old eBay auction a railroad line salvager examined 2 -3 thousand railroad insulators (equivalent to four of those field crates) and found just one insulator worth selling on eBay. It was a Hemi-40 with a bottle cap inside of the glass. The auction was won by Dwayne Anthony. Do you think you have that kind of stamina? First pic [id=468790769] |
