I decided to visit some rock hound friends at their show in San Jose. I was very impress with the Santa Clara Valley Gem & Mineral Society Show and the range of activities they put in place to attract and engage the general public. They recognize their hobby was aging and would be extinct if they didn't attract new and younger faces. This is the Kids Area. Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Webelos can earn their merit badges in geology by going through all the educational exhibits in this area.

A couple of things I didn't photograph were the competitive displays by club members and ongoing lectures by Dinosaur Dan in a separate seated area.
