This specimen without the Diamond-P monogram but with the 1885 Pennycuick patent date was found in 2010 during an excavation here in southeast Massachusetts. Unfortunately the insulator was split down the middle. Concentrated efforts were made to recover the other half and any other pieces. However none were found. This is one of 4 or 5 Diamond-Ps in this color and I believe none in the hands of collectors have ever been publicly offered for sale. This example will display perfectly once set upon your shelf, appearing as if the insulator was undamaged and whole. A view of the "open" side appears in the accompanying photograph. Given the fact that these are soooo much in demand and that a VNM example would fetch into the five-figure range, here is your chance to own a sapphire (or cobalt, call whatever color you wish) for a mere fraction of that. There is no other damage, only a very shallow annealing line on the crown. Keeping this piece, this posting is for reference only.
