It's always exciting to get out and dig a threadless. I find even my friends who don't collect insulators like coming out for a dig, and become excited when we start to find threadless shards. I probably build up the process so much in explaining it that these things sound unobtainably difficult to find when I'm explaining it to them. The bottom line is, they're very much obtainable! Thousands of miles of telegraph lines and sometimes dozens of insulators per pole means that there are a lot of these things still out there... Many more than I have hours free to go searching! Threadless insulators are difficult to find in many areas compared to the one I live in, but the fact remains that there is a lot to be found.

I hit [id=356954546;this piece] with my fork while out searching about 2 weeks ago, and was awfully excited to pull an intact threadless insulator from the dirt for the first time since February. The piece is an aqua unembossed Canadian CD 742 - almost certainly more common than even the McMicking - but it's still always fantastic to find one!

Always keep looking, and know that they are out there!
