Using Lumenedge LED strips just under the shelf lips, I've lit up some dark corner porcelain display shelves. I use their "Warm white" LED's, and the DC dimmer they sell also. It's a bit expensive, but really makes a nice bright soft light. You can see the reflections of the strips in some of the insulators. This and an identical set of shelves on the other side of the fireplace cost around $130 in total.
