I recently purchased this original photo and one other from a guy in Oakland. It was not taken at the Fred Locke factory in Victor, NY as originally thought. We feel fairly certain that it was made at Oakland, CA. The photo shows hundreds of M-2795's ready to be shipped to the site of one of the two major 40,000-volt lines in northern California -- Bay Counties Power Co. 152-mile line from Colgate to Oakland and the Standard Electric Co. 219-mile line from Electra to Oakland and San Francisco. The Bay Counties line also extended to San Francisco via the Standard Electric Co. line for a total length of 222 miles. Click here for the other photo: [id=318715434]
