PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) was doing some "Service Reliability" work near our place in the Sierra Foothills. The power poles they were rebuilding carried an open wire communication line which was abandoned many decades ago. The power company once had a huge network of open wire lines, connecting all it's hydro-electric generating plants, substations, switch points, etc. Very few of these lines remain, and they are generally just left hanging in place unless some other work is being done on the pole, and the arms are basically "in the way". Such was the case today, and my only explanation for hauling all this "junk" home is that I know the history of the line, and have stared at it for many years. Here are a few of the arms, with common glass.
