Carnival Sombreros in NY

This past weekend my family went downstate to visit my wife's folks. It's a trip we've done many times before, so I was surprised when I saw these. They've been doing a lot of construction along this road, in the process of turning it from an intrastate into an interstate, and I suspect that there used to be trees hiding my view of this.

There look to be 6 strings of 9 each, with a handful of replacement porcelain suspensions. That's almost 50 carnival sombreros on this one pole! Of interest, the line as it disappears off into the distance looks like the other towers in this direction also have carnival suspensions.

This is within probably 60 or so miles of Corning, where these insulators were originally made.
