Here is yet another pole top cap with an insulator pin. The pin is an integral part of the casting. As you can see, an eyebolt runs through the casting and a turned wooden "pin" which is designed to be inserted into the top of the iron pole. The skirt of the cap is 8 3/4" diameter, the vertical portion is 4 3/4" diameter. The overall height including the pin is 11 1/2 ". The wooden mounting pin is 16" tall and 4" diameter. the shoulder is 10 1/4" up from the bottom, is 1 5/8" wide and projects 1/2" from the main shaft. There are dead-center markings on both ends. The top of the pin and the top of the shoulde are chamfered at 45 degrees to fit the curvature of the casting. The eyebolt goes through the casting and the wooden pin. The pole assemble was used to support a trolley car electrical system. See the early photograph of the pole and cap in use. The pole is at the far left of the photo. [id=244134152]
