I had spied a few of these pin thingies up on the north side of town around Wellesley and Post. They were very much in use and upon a later recon mission, none were still in service or left to be seen. I purchased this example from a local collector recently and was tickled to add it to my little pile of odd pins and related construction materials. These were placed in the outermost pinhole on a crossarm and then wired with the three-wire house drop/s that would run off to a perpendicular angle to the pole line running along the street or alley. The insulators are very typical early Spokane construction - Thomas dry process dudes in varying shades of blue-grey-tan - complete with cloth covered copper conductor. A great piece of local history.
