I notice this picture and it reminded me when we had the Big Gangs in Northern Ontario in the early 80,s, The P-811 and R.C.O.Were the operation entailed the changeout of old bolted rail and wood ties to concrete ties and ribbon rail .all performed in one daily cycle laying miles of new steel and ties. stone and mechanzied lifts every day for weeks on end... Just a picture of the past of the same process but all done manually .....(in and around the 1890,s....)Just Amazing.
