In many cases, the original factory carnival was sprayed up at an angle. This tends to get less (or no) carnival on the top, and sometimes even gets some in the pin hole.

It's a little hard to see in this photo, but the top of the real one has very little carnival. It doesn't reflect light the same way the altered one does.
