After several weeks in the solution there was very little progress other than a softening of the cement. I drilled several pilot holes to get a little more of the cement exposed to the product. This was also not successful. After several more weeks I decided that a new tactic was needed. I have access to several different acids and have been using a formic acid solution to clean my insulators. After contacting M.P. Doyle we decided to go back to the original intent of the experiment, speed up the process of removing a cemented pin. Into the acid it went.... |
