Patented Hemingray No.40 Front Skirt Error

Here's a closer look of the front skirt. It's obvious from this pic that all or most of the letters of PATENTED are misaligned while the patent date seems of the norm. I wonder if workers at Hemingray would be fired from their jobs for producing sloppy work. Has anyone else ever wondered the same thing?

Added note: After a closer look myself at this pic I noticed I was incorrect about the Patent date being the norm. Normally the 1 of 1893 isn't aligned in the fashion this on is!
