Looking at this photo two things immediately come to my mind: first of all, the justification of paired covered cable (overhead and underground) that eventually superceded open-wire telephone circuits. Secondly, the strain, suffering and duress that Mother Nature afflicted upon many of the insulators surviving now in our collections! If only they could talk!!
