A common practice as openwire phone was wrecked out was to reconstruct a pole in this formation to dead end the open wire and splice the circuits to aerial cable or underground. A second arm was added to the backside of the pole for strength against a one way strain, down guy for the same reason, and spools. The added backside arms were usually salvaged from the pole just taken down nearby and the linewire, after being cut, would be tied off through the spools and looped over the pintypes on the double arms as jumpers before running to a splice box either on the pole or in a nearby ground box.
