Every year, the same local gentleman walks in with yet another yellow California helmet. He always puts them in our silent auctions, and they always go home with a new owner. Rumor has it that this gentleman had access to a certain lumber mill in the southern Oregon/northern California area. This mill was wired indoors with these yellow Cals. They remained yellow because they were never exposed to the sun. Most of them got covered with whitewash as the the interior walls were repainted over the years. This example still retains most of its whitewash.
