A Clear EC&M, But Not Really...

My friend crafts items in resin from latex molding. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could reproduce a "fake" insulator out of transparent resin just like the ones I see floating around at shows. Well, here it is, and it's a monster... "IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE!!!" Ugly, isn't it, but I bet you never saw a clear EC&M before. (Although I think some actually exist.) On a more personal note, don't try this at home. Every chemical my friend uses to craft this stuff is extremely smelly and usually harmful to your health. I recommend keeping to the real thing. To keep it clearly looking like a fake, I used the tip of a broked wooden pin as the threading and had a heck of a time getting it out. I also didn't have the threads go as deep as they should. The mold wasn't thick enough so subsequently the little guy is "bulgy" at points. (Incase you didn't read above, it's a fake made of plastic resin.) It's pretty interesting to me, but it's aroma leaves something to be desired...
