Telegraph office clock

This is a Western Union clock. It is a pendulum clock which is wound electrically once per hour - powered by a pair of #2 dry cells inside. A solenoid inside was connected to the Naval Observatory via a telegraph line and the clock was synchronized every hour, on the hour, with the official time. (This clock has run continuously since 1967 up until a month ago when [I think] the mainspring broke).
