This is what I have. marked ' OTTOBERNZ CO NEWARK NJ it is 6 inches long & just over 2 inches in dia. Both ends come off. The center turns which opens and closes a circular opening. The pic has it fully opened with both ends removed. This object is brass. Is three separate compartments.

Hi James, Your assumption is correct...it is a device that stores solder flux and rosin. It is listed in the blow torch reference book; MORE VINTAGE BLOWTORCHES, page 15. It was given a rarity rating of 3 stars...RARE. Other blow torch manufacturers, including the Otto Bernz Co., manufactured the same item. We assume a large quantity were manufactured, however, not many have surfaced.

FYI...the Otto Bernz Co. was one of the three largest blow torch manufacturers in the US...began in 1876, and continues today as the BernzOMatic Company. Ron RONLV@cox.net
