This piece measures 6-1/2 inches long and about 3-1/2 inches wide. It appears to have been made in a two-piece mold since it has a slightly raised line extending from one corner to the other (diagonally, over its top). There are no markings. The insulator has a sand-base (very small pieces of crushed porcelain allegedly to keep the insulator from sticking to the kiln tray during glaze firing). This neat piece is in Joe Maurath's collection (I will be showing more later) and he believes it came from Mike Guthrie some years ago.
